LAHORE – A high level meeting of the officials of the Punjab sports fraternity on Thursday reviewed the preparations for the 71st Punjab Games, which was postponed four times in the past due to a cold war between the Punjab Olympics Association and the Sports Secretary Punjab. The Games have been scheduled for April 7 to 9 at different venues of the city and the PbOA has promised that they will not be postponement this time.
Haseeb Ather, secretary Higher Education Commission, Director General Punjab Sports, District and Divisional Sports Officers and secretaries of various sports associations discussed in detail the arrangements for the Games.
Idris Haider Khawaja, Secretary PbOA, informed Pakistan Today that the Chief Minister Punjab will declare the games open on April 7. A full dress rehearsal will be held one day prior to the event.
Nine regions of the province will participate in the event, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha. He said that the meeting also discussed the accommodation of the athletes and other arrangements and termed them satisfactory.
