KARACHI – In a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), 11 development schemes worth Rs 13.226 billion were approved on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by the Planning Secretary of the Planning and Development Department and attended by the administrative heads of various departments.
The department heads briefed the participants of the meeting about their respective schemes – including construction of a Trauma Centre at the Ojha Institute and establishment of four combined effluent treatment plants – which would be sent to the federal government for approval of the Central Development Working Party.
According to details, the Project Cost-I of Rs 98.385 million would be used for the structure development scheme of improving the Reinforced Cement Concrete and sewerage system in union councils of Jamshed, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal, Gadap and Korangi towns. Another scheme worth Rs 46.189 million would be used for construction of 52 streets, roads, drains, Cement-Concrete blocks and pavements in Khairpur.
Rs 500 million would be utilised for provision of water connection to the industrial and economic zone at Dhabeji and the adjoining areas, whereas Rs 107 million were also approved for provision of Sui gas to the industrial and economic zone at Dhabeji. Construction of the Neuroscience Complex at Larkana’s Chandka Medical College Hospital – comprising a neurosurgery department, a neuromedicine department and a psychiatry department – worth Rs 218 million was also approved.
Moreover, establishment of a Trauma Centre Lab and provision of support services for Karachi’s Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases of the Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, worth Rs 681 million, has also been approved.
In collaboration with the National Database Registration Authority, the Information Technology Department would ensure computerisation of domicile and Permanent Residence Certificate through Sindh to improve the quality of government’s services for the citizens.
