11 more dead in Karachi killings

KARACHI – The wave of violence in Karachi continued on Thursday as another 11 people, including an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were killed across the city.
Imran Akhtar, 28, son of Akhtar Ali, a JI activist, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi as he was sitting near his brother’s shop. In a similar incident, an MQM activist was gunned down and another was injured near Qasba Morr in the Orangi Town police precincts, police said.
Police said that unidentified gunmen fired at Javaid and Noman near Qasba Morr and both were wounded, but Javaid later succumbed to his injuries. Javaid’s dead body and the injured Noman were moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Dead bodies were found in Allah Dad Ground, Khajoor Market and Ayub Goth, while three men were shot dead in separate incidents in North Nazimabad, Landhi and Malir Halt by unidentified assailants.
