Police kill two robbers in a shootout

LAHORE – Two alleged robbers were shot dead in a shootout with the police in Harbanspura Police precincts late on Wednesday. The police claimed that one robber died as a result of firing from his accomplice while the other was shot dead by the police. The police arrested one robber while three others fled.
Police said robbers snatched a mobile phone and Rs 3,500 from a pedestrian namely Ashraf near Wada Sattar, Sheran Wali Kothi. Muhafiz Squad personnel, who were on a routine patrol, intercepted them. The robbers, on seeing the police, opened fire and managed to escape.
Thereafter, police cordoned off the area and chased the robbers who again opened fire on the police. In an exchange of fire two robbers were killed, one arrested while three fled. The arrested robber was identified as Saleem. The two dead robbers were identified as Imaran and Hafeez, both residents of Okara. Police shifted the bodies to the morgue. A case has been registered and investigations begun. AVLS claims arresting two car thieves: The Saddar Division Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) on Thursday claimed to have arrested two car thieves of the Abdul Khaliq alias Chaudhry Car Lifter Gang, including its ringleader, and recovered 20 cars worth Rs 10 million rupees from their possession.
The criminals have confessed to 35 cases of car theft during preliminary interrogation. The arrested criminals were identified as ringleader Abdul Khaliq alias Chaudhry and Waris Ali. The car thieves stole cars with help of a master key and took them to Peshawar via the motorway and sold the vehicles at cheaper rates to Shahzad Khan Pathan. The arrested criminals have cases registered against them in Mozang, Liaqatabad, Factory Area, Millat Park, Garden Town, Ghaziabad, North Cantt, South Cantt, Gulberg, Naseerabad, Sanda, Iqbal Town, Shalimar, Faisal Town, Muslim Town, Model Town, Defence A and Defence B. Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen announced cash prizes and certificates for the police team.
Muhjaid Squad nets 343 criminals: The Mujahid Squad has arrested 343 criminals involved in various crimes and seized narcotics, illegal weapons, mobile phones and liquor from their possession. According to a handout issued on Thursday, the police conducted a crackdown on criminal on the SP Mujahid Squad Muntazir Mehdi’s direction. The SP praised police for a successful crackdown.
Three SPs transferred: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Iqbal transferred three superintendents of police (SPs) on Thursday.
Faisalabad Administration SP Abdul Qadir Qamar has been transferred and posted as Faisalabad Madina Town Additional SP, while Faisalabad Saddar Additional SP Imran Kishwar has been transferred and posted as Faisalabad Administration SP. Faisalabad Iqbal Town Additional SP Asmatullah Junejo has been transferred and posted as Faisalabad Lyallpur Town Additional SP.
