Peace Alliance demands a new social contract on Pakistan Day

LAHORE – With a whooping slogan to nurture a new social contact to convert the state into a genuine welfare state, a provincial convention (Punjab) in
connection with Pakistan Day under the aegis of Peace Alliance was held at Ali Institute, Ferozepur road here on Wednesday.
The convention was participated by hundreds of people hailing from far fetched areas of Punjab. In his address, Provincial Convention Irfan Mufti said that the purpose behind the gathering was to initiate a debate to establish such a state which could protect the social, political and economic interests of its masses. The convention also aimed to motivate civil society besides students, youth, minorities, labours and farmers to play their part in the emergence of welfare state, he added.
Human Right Commission of Pakistan director I. A Rehman lauded the efforts of Peace Alliance to thrash out the salient features of new social contact to spread peace and salvage the society from vices. He appealed to people belonging to different section of society to join the Peace Alliance in their endavours to build a new Pakistan. He pressed the participants to mobilze the people of their areas to join the process of new social contact.
