KARACHI – Pakistani journalist Azfar Bukhari was honoured at an event held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The programme was arranged by civil society organisations and was attended by noted personalities from various segments of life, including Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), international media personalities.
Bukhari, who could not attend the event, was honoured for his outstanding performance in journalism. On the occasion, MEP Godfrey Bloom said that Bukhari is a brave and patriotic person who presents blunt analyses and observations on sensitive issues like global terrorism and extremism, highlighting the role of Pakistan at international level.
Bukhari worked for an international news organisation in the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2010 on the recommendation of House of Lords members. He has highlighted Pakistan’s stance on global terrorism and extremism in a positive manner at various platforms. The services of Pakistanis are often honoured at international levels, but they do not receive much importance within their country.
Bukhari has been portraying Pakistan’s positive image since a long time at the international level, but he has been repeatedly threatened for criticising the blasphemy law of his country.
