International moot on IPR held

KARACHI – Global Media Links (GML) and Business Milestones have joined hands to organise an international conference on intellectual property rights (IPR), recently. Eminent national and international experts on IPR presented their papers and discussed the subject with regards to two selected themes in the Intellectual Property Rights Conference-2011. The two chosen themes of the conference are; IPR: An international perspective, realisation, and implementation; and second theme is Counterfeiting and piracy issues related to intellectual property.
The moot on protection of intellectual property was organised in collaboration with several concerned government, private sector organizations, industries, and multinational companies. The Landirenzo Pakistan, an Italian industrial concern and now actively operating in Pakistan, and Byco Petroleum Pakistan, a leading energy sector company in the country, were two major supporting partners of the IPR conference-2011.
Other organisations collaborating for the event included the Ministry of Industries and Production, Ministry of Commerce, Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO), Federal Investigation Agency, Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), FPCCI, KCCI, Organization of Business Executives UK, Better Pakistan Forum, and other leading IPR law firms. Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani attended as Chief Guest in the inaugural session of the IPR Conference while Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan presided over the concluding session.
It should be mentioned here that senior management of Global Media Links, the main organiser of the IPR Conference, has been engaged in holding international conferences on various innovative and technical topics for last ten years.
