HAFIZABAD – A dacoit gang’s ringleader was killed in an alleged police encounter in the precincts of Police Station Pindi Bhattian. Reportedly, Faisal, a resident of Mohallah Hassan Town, was wanted in various robbery incidents. He along with his four accomplices came to village Ghari Gondal to commit a robbery. Pindi Bhattian police got the information and reached the spot. On seeing the police, the gang opened fire. Faisal was killed in the cross-fire.
His four accomplices, however, succeeded in fleeing away. It is learnt that three days ago this gang injured a police constable, Nazir Ahmad, when he reached Mohallah Hassan Town after a robbery incident. PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATED IN HAFIZABAD: The Pakistan Day was celebrated across the district with fervour and special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of the country. The national flag was hoisted at important public and private buildings throughout the district while governmental, political, cultural and social organisations held various programmes to mark the day.
An exhibition of handcrafts was held at Alfalah Dastkari School to celebrate the day. A large number of women took keen interest in the exhibition. A friendly hockey match was also played between Hafizabad Red Eleven and Green Eleven. The Green Eleven won this match. District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Asif and Hafizabad District Sports Officer Saif-ur-Rehman distributed prizes among the players.
GOLD ORNAMENTS SNATCHED: Robbers looted a bridegroom’s family at a service road near Karyala Morre. Reportedly, the family of Rana Muhammad Saleem was going home in a car when two armed robbers stopped the vehicle near Karyala Morre, looted 10 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 450,000 and escaped.
RICE DEALER BOOKED FOR FRAUD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against a rice dealer who is a friend of Hamesh Khan. Reportedly, Major (retd) Qadir Bakhsh Tarar of village Rasoolpur Tarar submitted an application to the FIA, blaming that Karam Dad Bhatti of Bhatti Commission Shop got a loan of Rs 20.02 million approved from the Bank of Punjab on his recommendation and mortgaged his land to the bank.
He added that Karam Dad planned to commit a fraud with the help of Punjab Bank Manager Muhammad Afzal by getting his signatures on documents and obtained a loan of Rs 49.5 million instead of Rs 2.02 million. The FIA investigated the matter and registered a case against Muhammad Afzal and Karam Dad Bhatti.
WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE: A newly married girl committed suicide over domestic issues in village Chhanni Hanjrawan. Reportedly, Iram, a resident of village Marh Bashi, was married to a person of village Chhanni Hanjrawan one and a half months back. Her family matters were not going well. Getting frustrated over the deteriorating domestic issues, she took poisonous pills and ended her life.
BISE CHAIRMAN VISITS EXAM CENTRES: Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Chairman Mehar Muhammad Bashir visited various matriculation exam centres. Reportedly, the chairman visited various centres in Hafizabad and during his visit to Government High School Hafizabad showed his satisfaction over the new online system, declaring it crystal clear.
