ISLAMABAD – Workers of Aalami Tanzeem Ahl-e-Sunnat (ATAS) held a gathering outside the National Press Club (NPC) on Wednesday to protest against the insult to Islamic sanctities by a US pastor. Holding placards, protestors shouted slogans against the US and pastor Terry Jones. Addressing the gathering, ATAS leader Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri said if the US could came to Iraq and Afghanistan to search Osama bin Laden, why had it not investigated the acts of the US pastor. “I, as a well known mufti of Pakistan, issue a verdict that Terry Jones deserves to die,” he announced.
He said the government should urge the US to take immediate action against Jones.
“He didn’t take care about his own prophet, Jesus Christ, as his name is also included the holy Quran,” he said. Qadri said Christians should oust Jones from their religion, adding that the “so-called Muslims who were killing innocent people” should kill Terry Jones. He also criticised the government, saying the rulers were involved in corruption and enjoyed their misdeeds.”They are least concerned about the religion,” he added. Criticising allied forces’ attack on Libya, Qadri said the US had launched operation in Libya just to take over its oil reserves. He called on the Muslims to set aside their personal interests and take united steps against Jones and the US.
