ASWJ madrassa damaged in Karachi rocket attack

KARACHI – Adopting a new strategy to harass the people of Karachi, terrorists fired two rockets at a madrassa in Malir area on Wednesday. A rocket hit the walls of the madrassa run by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) near Jamia mosque, while a second rocket landed at Ghazi ground a few minutes later. The walls of the madrassa were damaged in the attacks.
However, no casualties were reported. The rocket attack spread panic across the area and law enforcement officials cordoned off the locality and began a search operation, arresting over a dozen suspects. Malir Town police officer said the rockets hit the boundary wall of Jamia Masjid al Mustafa and initial investigation suggested that the rockets were fired from the Dar Muhammad Goth area of Malir. He said Dar Muhammad Goth area was under control of a Sindhi nationalist group and police were unable to take action against them due to political pressure.
