LAHORE – The city will be drug-free in a period of three years under the Lahore Drug-Free City Project, ANF Deputy Director General Muhammad Altaf Qumar said on Thursday. Addressing a seminar at Government College for Women Samanabad, arranged in joint collaboration of ANF and Aghaz-e-Nau, Qumar said the Lahore city had been divided into six zones to achieve the objective of a drug-free city.
He said non-government organizations were creating awareness among the masses about the ill-effects of drugs. He said government departments such as police, social welfare, excise & taxation were also cooperating with the NGOs in the campaign. Drug Demand Reduction Officer Maira Ali gave a presentation regarding classification of drugs and the harmful effects of drug use. She also deliberated upon the role of ANF in curbing drug demand.
