Religious parties vent ire on US, Terry Jones

LAHORE – The Jamaat e Islami (JI) and Tehreek-e Hurmat-e-Rasool(THR) took out separate rallies in the city on Wednesday to condemn the desecration of the Holy Quran by an American pastor. The JI organized its rally at Wahdat Road Park where hundreds of men, women and children turned up to condemn the sacrilegious act. The participants of the rally marched from Wahdat Road Park up to Muslim Town Mor. They were carrying placards condemning the devilish pastor’s blasphemous act. Holding copies of the Holy Quran in their hands, the participants vowed to lay down their lives for the sanctity of Islam.
Addressing the rally , JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan said President Asif Ali Zardari has sold out Pakistan to the United States.
He also said that thieves and plunderers have taken Pakistan hostage. Baloch said in his address that the United States was hatching conspiracies against Islam and the Muslims but the Pakistani government and generals were not ready to free themselves of the clutches of the US. Baloch said the Muslims could not tolerate the desecration of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and of the Holy Quran. JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq, and JI’s Lahore chapter chief Amirul Azeem also addressed the rally THR held its protest outside the Lahore Press Club where hundreds of charged activists from THR and other religious parties chanted slogans against Pastor “Terry Jones and the US. Down with the US and down with Pastor Jones,” read one of the banners. THR convener Maulana Ameer Hamza demanded the government summon the US ambassador and express its extreme displeasure over the incident.
Maulana Mohib-un-Nabi, Saif-ud-Din Saif, Pir Saif Ullah Khalid, Hafiz Ibtsam Elahi Zaheer, Mirza Ayoub Baig, Qari Sana Ullah, Makhdoom Manzoor, Maulana Younus, Shamus-ur-Rehman Moavia were prominent among the speakers.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Minorities Alliance (APMA) and the All Pakistan Muslim League also took out rallies to desecration of the Holy Quran.
