KARACHI – A Halal certification process is set to start by the end of this year in Sindh through the aid of Malaysian certification authority, Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC). This was indicated by the Advisor to Chief Minister, Zubair Motiwala while speaking in a briefing at the International Halal Conference 2011, organised by Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) in collaboration with HDC. He said that the currently HDC was training Pakistanis in Halal certification.
Once this training programme is completed, other matters will be attended to within a few months and certification of Halal products will begin in next six to nine months, he elaborated. Responding to a query, he stressed that Pakistan will adopt the Malaysian model for Halal certification with necessary amendments. He stated that HDC experts have visited the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry in this regard.
