Coke Golf starts at Gymkhana

LAHORE – The two rounds Pakistan Day Coca Cola Golf Tournament commenced at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course and on the first day the events for boys, ladies, seniors above 55 years and veterans above 70 years were concluded. Male amateurs will tee off today early morning. A total of 92 leading amateurs are vying for honors in this contest endorsed by Coke.
On the first day, some tremendous hitting by the boys below 15 years of age and youngsters like Noyyan Nayyar, Taha Zaka, Isfandyar Khan and Rahim Burki was noticeable. Among the ladies, Kara Alam showed all-round excellence in tee shots, backed by accurate approach shots, and won the first net.
Other victorious players in the ladies section were Maimoona Azam (2nd net), Naureen Malik (1st gross) and Sameea Javed Ali (2nd gross). The seniors’ section was totally dominated by Qayum Rashid, a former hockey Olympian. He emerged with a perfect score of gross 76, capturing the first gross slot. In the gross section, AVM Zakaullah came second and Karamatullah Chaudry was placed third.
