LAHORE – Sincere efforts are required to promote the ideology of Pakistan in order to solve the problems facing the country today including US subjugation, speakers of a seminar held at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal on occasion of Pakistan Day said on Tuesday.
Pakistan Today Editor and Aiwan-e-Iqbal Chairman Arif Nizami presided over the seminar which was also attended by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Information Secretary Kamil Ali Agha, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Zulfiqar Gondal, columnist Orya Maqbool Jan, senior journalist Sajjad Mir, Jamia Naeemia Principal Raghib Naeemi and others.
Speaking on US national Raymond Davis’ release, Kamil criticised the Punjab government’s role and said that people were now aware of the realities and will soon come on streets. He also quoted his friend who raised questions about the judiciary’s role in Davis’ release and said that the blood money deal could not take place until the accused accepts his crime or there were enough evidences against the killer.
The PML-Q leader said that politicians such as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif “sowed the seeds of hatred”. He said that the Quaid-e-Azam possessed a strong character and Allama Iqbal had chosen him to lead the Pakistan Movement and consequently the people were able to achieve a miracle in seven years.
Kamil also appreciated Arif Nizami’s stance on the Raymond Davis issue. Nizami said that Pakistan came into being for fulfillment of an ideology but today some elements have occupied the ideology and are using it for their personal publicity and advertisement. He stressed upon the need for promoting Pakistan’s ideology in a sincere manner.
The veteran journalist said that the nation should not get demoralised on the Raymond Davis issue and concentrate on success. PPP leader Zulfiqar Gondal said that the Quaid-e-Azam was clever in politics and his agreement on the Cabinet Mission Plan was its example. He said that dictators always betrayed the public as General Ziaul Haq used the name of Islam while former president General Pervez Musharraf used enlightened moderation for his illegal rule.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Ijaz Chaudhry said that migration of Muslims after Pakistan’s establishment was the biggest in history. He said that state institutions should be blamed for Davis’ release and the Punjab CM showed his ignorance by saying that he did not know that Davis will be released.
A national song “Sohni Dharti” was also sung by Shahzad brothers, which was appreciated by the audience. Minhajul Quran leader Dr Raheeq Abbasi and Sunni Ittehad Council leader Atharul Qadri also spoke on the occasion.
