Hyderabad-bound train escapes accident

MIRPURKHAS – A Hyderabad-bound passenger train on late Monday night escaped a major incident because of the engine’s brakes failure at the Mirpurkhas Railway Station. A 200 feet stretch of the track was also damaged in the incident. However, the bogies were not affected and all the passengers remained unhurt. Soon after the incident, Pakistan Railways officials reached the spot and started repairing the damaged track.
The engine driver, Qamruddin, told to Pakistan Today that fortunately, the brakes failed within the railway station before it could attain a high speed. Had it not been the case, a huge loss would have to be suffered. The train was delayed by around two hours and the Railway authorities managed to send the train towards the destination by using another engine and shifting it on a different track. It is pertinent to mention that the railway locomotives and the track in the region are in a very dilapidated condition as a result of which similar incidents have become a routine matter.
