LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din while calling the case of Monis Elahi a 20/20 match asked institutions and politicians to refrain from politicizing the Moonis case. He expressed these views while talking to the media outside the on the occasion of Moonis appearance in the court on Monday. Without making public the political motives of the government behind Moonis case, he claimed that son of former chief minister was innocent and was framed in a politically motivated case.
He alleged that FIA was using unconventional methods on Moonis during investigations and torturing him mentally. Commenting on meetings of PML-Q top brass with other political forces, he maintained that there was nothing unusual about these meetings and the senior party leaders did not meet other leaders to get relief for Moonis.
Again, the PML-Q leader without furnishing evidence regarding Rehman Malik’s political motives for interfering in the Moonis case, claimed that federal interior minister was taking personal interest in Monis case on political grounds. To a query regarding the possibilities of midterm polls, he said that he did not see midterm polls in the near future, however there was no wrong bringing a change through constitutional means.
