PULC’s professor’s thesis published in Germany

LAHORE – Punjab University (PU) Law College Assistant Professor Dr Amanullah Malik’s thesis, “Judicial Activism and Human Rights in Pakistan and India: Right to Life” has been published in Germany. PU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Mujahid Kamran congratulated Dr Amanullah on publication of his thesis. The research focused on judicial activism in the form of judicial review of a constitutional amendment, inconsistent with basic structure of the constitution including fundamental rights.
It would provide a lot of research material and help resolve the longstanding issue of the basic structure theory in the constitution, power of judicial review of the Supreme Court and implied limitations on the constitutional amendment power of parliament. Separately, Punjab University Department of Technology Education organised an art and craft exhibition at the Institute of Education & Research (IER). IER Director Dr Mumtaz Akhtar inaugurated the exhibition while Department of Technology Education Chairperson Dr Tahseen Mahmood, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
Around 70 students displayed their work in glass, fabrics, jewelry, interior design, handmade purses, readymade garments and metal crafts. The areas of specialisation of the students included Commercial Art & Dressing Making and Designing and Experimental Craft. Afterwards, Mahmood also delivered lectures at the PU Child Welfare Centre.
