GUJRANWALA – Police have recovered 160 kilograms of explosives, suicide jackets, 4 hand-grenades, 3 Kalashnikovs maps, jihadi literature and pictures of TTP commanders from four bungalows in Gujranwala. CPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar told the media on Monday while addressing a news conference. He said no arrest could be made as the terrorists had escaped soon after a blast early Monday morning. He, however, said police apprehended 3 people who helped terrorists renting the buildings. He said the terrorists had been bombing the police stations in city for last two months.
CPO said, “Soon after a blast at Rail Bazaar kiosk, police started a search operation using army’s trained dogs that led to the bungalows in a posh area of Jalil Town from where all the explosives were seized. But the wanted men had escaped.” He said police also found blood-stained clothes belonging to a suspected terrorist who police suspect might have been injured while denoting the bomb on Monday morning.
He said residents revealed that suspects lining in those bungalows left just ten minutes before police started the hunt. He said the bungalows were owned by Mehr Shabbir and Haji Tahir and that police arrested the real estate agent and his accomplices.
