LHC seeks CCPO’s report on missing families of Faheem and Faizan

LAHORE – Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain of the Lahore High Court on Monday sought a report from the Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO) about the mysterious disappearance of the families of Fahim and Faizan, the two men killed by US national Raymond Davis. The judge ordered CCPO Aslam Tareen to appear in person in court on today (Tuesday) along with a detailed report on the whereabouts of the two families. The court was hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Malik Munsif Awan for the recovery of families of the deceased, submitting that the families had been missing since the ompromise” with Davis. Awan said he feared that somebody had abducted them and kept them under illegal detention.
He named the federal interior minister, Punjab home secretary and the Punjab inspector general of police as respondents in his petition. He said that according to media reports, the lives of the missing families were in danger. The lawyer said neither the provincial nor the federal government had taken responsibly for the family’s whereabouts. He requested the court to summon the respondents and issue directions to present the abducted families before the court and set them free.
