Jamia Naeemia’s 58 years to be celebrated

LAHORE – The 5-day celebrations of Jamia Naeemia, a 58 years old seminary, will start from today. A qirat, nawt khawni, and debate competition will be held among seminary students during first three days. On 25th March Vice Chancellor Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran will inaugurate a book fair. Jamia Naeemia Principal Dr Raghib Naeemi on Monday told in a press conference that PML (N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman and other dignitaries will speak at “Mufti-e-Azam seminar” on 26th of March under the topic of “Integrity of Pakistan and our responsibilities”.
Celebrations will conclude on same day with the distribution of certificates among Hafiz i Quran and those who passed the seminary’s courses. Commenting on Raymond Davis case, Dr Raghib Naeemi stated “It is a wrong perception that Pakistan lost ground on the issue. The 48 day detention of Raymond, rejecting all high profile pressure, was a show of force. Even western newspapers called it an American defeat.”
However, he said there were negative developments from the government whose rhetoric of diplomatic immunity proved baseless. He further said government was unable to take the people into confidence on the matter. A mystery surrounds the matter due to unexplained absence of Faheem and Faizan relatives from the scene, he said. Responding to question about Hamid Saeed Kazmi, the Jamia Naeemia Principal said the Ex Religious Minister should voluntarily presented himself for trial instead of waiting for his arrest. “The matter is in court, he should prove his innocence there,” he concluded.
