LAHORE – Guard Group strolled to title victory against Monnoo Foods in the final of the Pepsi Challenge Cup Polo here on Sunday. Guard Group converted eight goals and allowed Monnoo Foods just two goals to win the first title of the season. Monnoo Foods enjoyed two-and-a-half goals handicap.
Taimur Ali Malik with four goals was the leading scorer for the winners while Shah Shamyl Alam and Zain Khan Khakwani shared two goals each to live upto their reputation. Monnoo Foods responded with top display from Ahmed Ali Tiwana and Saqib Khan Khakwani.
The duo added one goal apiece in their four-and a-half goals tally that also included handicap advantage. Marketing Manager Pepsi Agha Muhammad Khan was the chief guest of the final and presented the trophy to the winning team quartet.
Meanwhile, Master Paints after winning three titles of the season including the National Championship, finished third in the current tournament when they defeated Pepsi in the subsidiary final. Masters hammered seven goals and allowed Pepsi just two goals.
Sufi Muhammad Haris and Hissam Ali Hyder scored three and four goals respectively from the winners side while Atif Yar Tiwana was the lone scorer from the losing side. The matches were supervised by Jawad Jamil Malik, Ahmed Zubair and Hamza Mawaz Khan.
