LAHORE – The 614 Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) employees reinstated by the federal government in January last year are still awaiting for their dues to be cleared by the company, Pakistan Today learnt on Sunday.
The federal government reinstated Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) 650 employees and approved all dues of the employees.
The dues were to be paid in three equal instalments. However, out of three instalments, SNGPL has only paid one instalment to the employees with the other two instalments are pending. In the coffers: Sources said Oil and Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has transferred the complete funds to SNGPL for paying to the employees but SNGPL had not transferred the funds to the reinstated employees.
According to details, the federal cabinet reinstated SNGPL employees with all dues to be cleared from their date of joining. The government also allocated Rs 158 million for clearing the dues of the employees. OGRA transferred the amount to SNGPL for clearing in three equal instalments. The employees were reinstated on January 6, 2010 and according to terms, SNGPL should have transferred first instalment with seven days of reinstatement. However, the SNGPL gave the first instalment on September 11th, 2010. This first instalment of Rs 53.93 million was given to 614 employees.
SSGC has paid: Talking to Pakistan Today, the reinstated employees said the next instalment was due within 180 days of reinstatement while third instalment was to be paid in 360 days. “We should be given all dues by January 2011 but so far we are given only one instalment,” a reinstated employee said on conditions of anonymity.
He said Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has already given all instalments to its reinstated employees while SNGPL employees are waiting for it. “There is no difference in the case of SSGC and SNGPL employees but we are still without our dues,” he added. The SNGPL public relation’s officer was not available for comments.
