MQP demands compensation for drone victims’ families

ISLAMABAD – Condemning the drone attack in Datta Khel that killed more then 40 people, Muttahida Qabaili Party (MQP) President Habib Malik on Saturday demanded the government compensate the families of victims of the drone attack.
Addressing a news conference at the National Press Club (NPC), Habib said the killing of innocent people in Datta Khel would not have taken place had the government alerted Pakistan Air Force before such drone attacks. Malik said the air force should reply in kind “if any other drone missile targeted our region again”.
He criticised the release of Raymond Davis, saying the US had gotten released its official who shot dead two Pakistanis, but its drones were targeting innocent people of Pakistan. Malik said drone attacks were counterproductive and their halt was must for the restoration of peace in the region.
He stressed upon the need for devising an effective policy to suppress the wrong doings of US forces in Pakistan. The tribal leader said the killing of more then 30 innocent people, including security force personnel was not an ordinary incident. “US forces would have to pay compensation to the victim families,” he said.
He called on the government to take solid steps against drone attacks and appealed to the international court of law and justice to take strict notice of American atrocities. Meanwhile, students of the Tribal Areas studying in the twin cities staged a demonstration against the US drone attack outside the National Press Club.
