Landlord grabs labourer’s inherited house

HAFIZABAD – A landlord of village Punj Garain near Hafizabad grabbed the house of a poor family.
According to details, a poor labourer, Khizar Hayat, had been living in his inherited house in the village since long. On the day of the incident, a landlord of the same village, Muhammad Ali, along with five armed accomplices, stormed into the house, threw his household items out of it and took illegal possession of it.
The poor family that was deprived of shelter went from pillar to post, but failed to seek justice. The police have also turned a dear ear towards them. Khizer Hayat has appealed to the Punjab government to take notice of this cruelty and take action against the influential landlord.
GOLDSMITH DEPRIVED OF CASH, GOLD: Two unknown armed dacoits looted Rs 17,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 40,000 after injuring a goldsmith. Reportedly, Wajid Ali, a goldsmith, was coming to Main Bazaar from his home. When he reached near Jalal Market, unknown armed dacoits intercepted him and tried to take him hostage, but he offered resistance on which the dacoits shot at him and injured. The bandits fled away after snatching Rs 17,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 40,000 from him. Rescue 1122 officials rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to hospital.
POLICE FAIL TO STOP EXTORTION: The local police have failed to stop criminals from extorting Jagga tax from transporters at the general bus stand, said Public Transport Union Hafizabad General Secretary Qazi Zaka Ullah while addressing a press conference at the press club on Sunday.
He distributed copies of a special branch report in which the names of the people involved in receiving jaga tax had been highlighted. He said he had received a copy of the confidential report from secretary, District Road Transport Authority, Hafizabad, Zaheer Abbas Chattha who forwarded the same to the district police, but no action was taken on this confidential report to stop Jagga tax.
JASHN-E-BAHARAN SPORTS GALA: A sports gala would be held in Hafizabad in connection with Jashn-e-Baharan from April one to April 8, said District wrestling Association General Secretary Abdur Rasheed Rehmani.
Talking to journalists, he said players from 25 union councils of tehsil Hafizabad would participate in various events during the sports gala. In the final event, DCO Captain (retd) Muhammad Asif, DOR Muhammad Akram Bhatti, District Sports Officer Saifullah and MNA Saira Afzal Tarar would be the guests of honour and distribute prizes among the winning players, he concluded.
