SIALKOT – Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday visited the heirs of the five people who were killed during a windstorm in village Machchrala, Buhadarpura, Chakrala and Dera Bhattian near Head Marala, district Sialkot.
She consoled the grieved families and offered fateha for the departed souls. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan announced Rs 500,000 and Rs 100,000 compensation for each dead and injured, respectively, on behalf of the prime minister.
Later, she checked the ongoing relief activities in the devastated villages and directed the officials concerned to step up pace for the early rehabilitation of the storm-hit people there.
Earlier, she visited Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot and inquired after the injured. She presented bouquets to all the injured on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. On this occasion, the federal minister directed the hospital authorities to provide free medication to them.
