KARACHI – Tuberculosis (TB) consumes an estimated 1.7 million lives worldwide every year. The World TB Day is an annual reminder that this infectious disease still exists, and a lot needs to be done in order to completely eliminate it, an Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) official said on Friday. In order to mark the World TB Day 2011, the AKUH is organising a seminar on March 22. The moot would highlight various important steps that need to be taken for prevention and management of TB.
The speakers include Dr Javaid Ahmad Khan, Professor and Consultant Pulmonologist, Department of Medicine; Dr Bushra Jamil, Associate Professor and Consultant, Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine; Dr Kauser Jabeen, Assistant Professor and Consultant Microbiologist, Department of Pathology and Microbiology; Dr Ali Bin Sarwar Zubairi, Associate Professor and Consultant Pulmonologist, Department of Medicine; and Dr Muhammad Irfan, Assistant Professor and Consultant Pulmonologist, Department of Medicine.
