Report on Garjakh Road construction sought

GUJRANWALA – Gujranwala Divisional Commissioner Saeed Iqbal Wahla has asked Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to submit a comprehensive report on the construction of 4.75-kilometer-long Garjakh Road and directed Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) to clear the bills of FWO for the projects completed by it. He was presiding over a meeting at the circuit house to review the development schemes of the city. MNA Khurram Dastgir Khan, DCO Nabil Awan, Director Development Anwar Aziz, Colonel Sibte Hassan Rana, GDA Director Muhammad Idrees and former MPA Abdur Rauf Mughal among others attended the meeting.
The commissioner asked the officials concerned to chalk out a work plan for the already completed projects up to 94% so that the remaining work could be completed. The meeting reviewed the progress of all development schemes in the city, including eastern bypass. MNA Khurram Dastgir Khan hoped transparency would be ensured in the completion of all the projects. LEVY OF FLOOD SURCHARGE FLAYED: Former MPA SA Hameed has flayed the levy of 15 per cent flood surcharge and enhancement of excise duty, urging the rulers to reduce their unlimited luxurious expenditures.
In a statement, he regretted the levy of taxes through ordinances and said no tax should be levied without approval from the parliament. He lamented the worst load shedding of electricity and gas had already damaged the industrial sector while the taxes over Rs 50 billion would break the backbone of the industry.
