LAHORE – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani must take the public in confidence on releasing Raymond Davis, former foreign minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Friday. Addressing reporters at the Lahore Press Club, Qureshi said that the unrest among masses would soar if the government would not provided complete information to them about the issue.
Stressing on his demand, he said masses were disappointed as they were considering Raymond Davis’ release an attack on national sovereingty. He demanded the PM give a full and transparent account of the release of Raymond Davis to the members of the party and its parliamentary allies before the presidential address to the joint session of parliament on March 22.
Qureshi urged restoration of hope and belief amongst the party’s ranksbefore the forthcoming death anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said the differences in the party would deepen if the party leadership would not restructure itself. In a defiant tone, Qureshi said a few rotten fish cannot be allowed to pollute the whole pond.
They cannot determine the fate of this nation, he said, adding that it was now time for honest, clean and visionary leaders to come forward. It is now time for political cleansing of the parties, he added.
