PA demands apology from US for killing tribesmen

LAHORE – The Punjab Assembly (PA) unanimously demanded an apology from the US over the drone attack on a peace jirga in tehsil Ditta Khail of North Waziristan in which over 40 innocent citizens died, through a resolution on Friday. The legislators collectively demanded Pakistani government raise the issue of innocent citizens’ killing at international level. The resolution, expressing grief over the killing of 40 civilians in Thursday’s attack, demanded the government adopt a clear stance on drone strikes. The resolution was moved by the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) member Naseem Nasir Khawaja after getting a positive response from both, treasury and opposition benches in the house.
She read the resolution before the house expressing grief over the said violation of the sovereignty of Pakistan and termed the attack a rebuke to Pakistanis for arresting and detaining the US national Raymond Davis, by the Americans. After the adoption of the resolution by the house MPA Rana Ejaz Ahmad Khan from the treasury bench said that the US apology could not compensate for national integrity so the government and the Pakistan Army should initiate practical measures to remove the US bases from the region where the drones were operated against Pakistani nationals. staff Report
