ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Managing Director Rasul Khan Mahsud has said that electricity load-shedding could end in a day if full supply of furnace oil and gas was ensured.
Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water and Power on Friday, he said PEPCO had a daily furnace oil requirement of 27,000 tons, while Pakistan State Oil managed to provide only 18,000 tons every day. He said PEPCO’s total gas requirements were of 780mmcfd but it received only 256mmcfd.
Mahsud said that with supply-side fuel limitations, power generation could not be raised to the optimal level. PEPCO could not end load-shedding without improvement in fuel supply, he said. He assured the committee, however, that the company would take measures to decrease load-shedding.
