Drunk driver kills 2 bikers

LAHORE – A drunken car driver ran over two bikers, Mukhtaar and Abdul Ghaffar, on Khayabe-e-Iqbal Road in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) at 1:30 am on Saturday. Shehryar Shahid, a university student and a resident of Gulberg, was under the influence when he rammed his Corolla (LEB 3680) into the bike. A crowd gathered after the incident and handed over Shehryar to the police. Mukhtaar belonged to Sahiwal and taught Quran to children in Lahore while Abdul Ghaffar worked in a DHA showroom.
Man shot dead by robbers: Muhammad Yonis, 70, a small whole-sale shop owner at Kala Khatai was shot dead while resisting a robbery at Shadara Town on late Friday night. According to details, three robbers entered Yonis’s shop after 10 pm carrying weapons and started emptying the cash drawers. The robbers shot Yonis near the neck region when he tried to stop them. Bank on fire: A private bank in Y-Block Defence caught fire due to a short circuit at 1 am on Saturday. The Bank authorities called the fire brigade and it took 30 minutes for firefighters to put out the blaze. Bank officers put damage at Rs 0.15 million.
