White Lies

One minute you have the best guest room in the classiest residence in town, the next you are on your own. That is what happens when your arch rival beats you in the gubernatorial race. We hear that during the late Salmaan Taseer days, the Governor mansion had welcome written all over it for Babar Awan. There was, in fact, a room reserved for him should he drop in for one of his trouble shooting missions. No more. It is no secret that there is no love lost between him and the current resident of the mansion, Governor Latif Khosa. Their rivalry has been as constant as their affiliation with the PPP and it turned real nasty when the two became candidates for the Punjab governorship. Khosa won out and the minute he moved into the imperial residence, the reserved room arrangement for Awan went out of the window. After all who wants an enemy at his door?

We hear that the Sharif family had a frightening moment in London last week. NS had a minor problem with his heart beat for which he checked into the London Heart Clinic for correction. Some doctors advised him that the matter could be treated with medication but did he listen? He opted for surgical intervention and for a moment it was touch and go. However, he made it and is now out of intensive care. His heart is being monitored but Mian Sahib, it is said, is monitoring the situation back home.

We hear that Raymond Davis was so confident of being rescued by his government that he kept saying so like a religious mantra. Witnesses say that he was kept at the CID Training Complex at Chung for several days before the Court gave orders to transfer him to Kot Lakhpat Jail. At Chung, the CID repeatedly quizzed him on the horrible double murder. His answer was always I have nothing to say. My government is dealing with it. And he was right, wasnt he.
