‘Soorah Badshah’ remembered in Sindh Assembly

KARACHI – The Sindh Assembly on Thursday paid tribute to Pir Sabghatullah Shah Rashidi alias Soorah Badshah (Brave King) for his struggle against the British rule. The resolution was moved by PML-F’s Marvi Rashdi and Nusrat Saher Abbasi, PPP’s Anwar Maher, PML-Q’s Abdul Razaque Rahimoon, MQM’s Moin Aamir Pirzada and others to acknowledge the struggles of Soorah Badshah.
The British had hanged Rashidi in March 1943 for his resistance against the British rule. His death anniversary will be observed on Sunday. Speaking on the resolution, Abbasi said it was a great tragedy that nobody knows where the ‘Brave King’ was buried after his martyrdom and demanded that an investigation be carried out to know the whereabouts of Rashidi’s last resting place.
PPP’s Syed Ali Nawaz Shah said that he felt honoured to be affiliated with a family which had refused to become a tool against Soorah Badshah in the hands of the British. PML-Q’s Rahimoon said the present rulers should also follow Badshah’s line. PPP’s Anwar Maher said that Rashidi was a martyr and a hero of Sindh. PPP’s Agha Siraj Durrani said that the Sindh province has always rendered sacrifices for this country and was ready to give more sacrifices.
