KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered the provincial government to immediately issue appointment orders on contract basis to 42 doctors, who had passed the Sindh Public Service Commission examination three years ago.
The SHC division bench comprising Justice Shahid Anwer Bajwa and Justice Tufail H Ibrahim passed the directive after hearing arguments from both sides. Petitioners Dr Farzana and Dr Nazar Bhagat had filed a constitutional petition through their lawyer, Masood A Noorani, that they had passed the examination for the post of Medical Officers in 2007.
However, when the present government came to power, the petitioners’ appointment orders were delayed without any reason, they added. The plaintiffs further argued that around 16 other medical officers had filed a petition before the Supreme Court, which passed the order in the favour of the applicants and on the directions of the apex court, the officers were appointed by the provincial government.
