PIDA launches capacity-building programme

LAHORE – The Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority (PIDA) has launched a capacity building programme for newly constituted 69 Farmer Organizations (FOs) in Bahawalnagar Canal Circle Area Water Board. The training programme will continue for eight months, a statement issued by PIDA General Manager (TM) Syed Zahid Ali said on Friday. Giving a break-up of the schedule, he said that FOs’ General Body training in Tehsil Chistian will be held from March 31 to April 8, while Management Committee members’ training will be held from April 18 to May 17 in the same tehsil.
Similarly, training will also be held in Tehsil Bahawalnagar from March 28 to April 17 and then from May 23 to June 17 for Management Committees and from June 20 to July 5 for General Body members. He said that Tehsil Minchanabad FOs will be provided training from June 21 to July 5. Management Committee members of Haroonabad FOs will obtain training from July 11 to July 22. While, the training arrangements for Tehsil Haroonabad have been made from July 28 to September 23.
He said that the Management Committee members of Tehsil Haroonabad will receive training from September 26 to October 4. And, training of General Body members of Tehsil Fort Abbas will be carried out from October 6 to October 18. The GM (TM) PIDA Syed Zahid Ali further said staff concerned has been directed to inform the training participants in time to ensure maximum attendance. The process of trainings will be directly monitored by the Area Water Board Chief Executive.
