NH&MP ensure lane discipline on Motorways

LAHORE – National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) Inspector General (IG) Dr Wasim Kausar reviewed the progress of lane discipline campaign started by N-5 Central Zone on Friday. N-5 Central Deputy Inspector General Syed Ibne Hussain and other senior Motorway Police officers were present at the meeting. The IG said tailgating, poor lane discipline and not using indicator while changing a lane were the violations that needed to be addressed. He said some drivers don’t keep a track of the third lane on Motorways, adding that the second lane on highways could only be used for overtaking.
He said besides causing inconvenience to other road users such inconsiderate driving was dangerous not only for the drivers but also for other road users. He directed all the officers to take action against the drivers who violate lane discipline. The IG further said that the sign boards like “Silence Zone”, “Observe Lane Discipline”, “Wear Seat Belt”, “Do not use cell phone while driving” etc give a message to the road users that the system cares about their safety. He said NH&MP needed public cooperation to present Pakistani’s image as a law abiding nation all over the world.
