ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has jacked up power tariff by between Rs 0.75 and Rs 2 per kilowatt hours (kWh) for three generation companies (GENCOs) due to the rise in furnace oil prices with effect from March 15.
According to the notifications issued by NEPRA, the tariff for various units of the Northern Power Generation Company Limited (NPGCL), Jamshoro Power Generation Company Limited (JPGCL) and Central Power Generation Company Limited (CPGCL) have been increased under the adjustment of the energy charge of the tariff related to fuel and furnace oil.
The prices of furnace oil have increase as compared to a fortnight back that has resulted in the hike in fuel tariff for GENCOs. The tariff for 62MW Gulf Power rental plant of NPGCL, being run on furnace oil, was increased by Rs 0.75 per kWh. The revised tariff becomes Rs 14.01 per kWh.
The tariff for Muzafargarh units 1, 2 and 3 of NPGCL was increased by Rs 1.13 per kWh. The revised tariff becomes Rs 15.66 per kWh from the previous tariff of Rs 14.53 kWh. The tariff for unit 4 was increased to Rs 1.12 per kWh. The revised tariff becomes Rs 15.52 per kWh from the previous tariff of Rs 14.4 kWh.
The fuel tariff for unit 5 and 6 increased to Rs 1.28 per kWh. The tariff of unit 1 of JPGCL increased by Rs 1.14 per kWh and for units 2, 3 and 4 the tariff was raised by Rs 1.32 per kWh. The adjustment made in the tariff for CPGCL’s Guddu Units 3 and 4 increased by Rs 2 per kWh.
