LAHORE – The Indian government had informed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that Pakistan might plan to harm Ajmal Kasab, Indian newspaper Indian Express reported revelations by WikiLeaks on Friday. According to a diplomatic cable dated March 4, 2009, Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram shared the fear with FBI Director Robert Mueller and asked the US for technology to trace cellphone calls.
“Chidambaram revealed that the GOI (Government of India) has intelligence that Pakistani entities have taken out a contract to ‘harm’ Mohammed Ajmal Kasab.” According to the WikiLeaks, Chidambaram readily agreed to Mueller’s request that the FBI might seek access to Kasab again and need a videotaped deposition in case he was indicted in the United States.
