Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan can now claim the unique honour of winning the best and worst actor awards for the same film in the same year. Khan, who won the Filmfare trophy in January for his performance as a man with Asperger’s Syndrome in “My Name is Khan”, was awarded the worst actor award this week at the Golden Kela awards, India’s version of the Razzies that spoof the Oscars.
The film, directed by Karan Johar, also picked up the dubious honour of the worst film of 2010. The 45-year-old Khan joined a list of Bollywood personalities who were “honoured” at the awards over the weekend. Sonam Kapoor was adjudged worst actress for “Aisha” while Sanjay Leela Bhansali was named worst director for “Guzaarish”, organisers said.
The Golden Kela awards, which honour the best of the worst of Bollywood didn’t see any of the nominees attending, though several Bollywood personalities were present.
Among the other winners were director Abbas Tyrewala’s “Jhootha Hi Sahi'”, which fetched Tyrewala’s wife Pakhi the worst debutante award as well as the atrocious lyrics trophy for the song ‘Cry Cry Kitna Cry’.
The Golden Kelas, now in their fourth year, awarded director Ram Gopal Varma the ‘Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho Gaya’ award, while Jackie Shroff won for worst casting ever for his role as the Shirdi Sai Baba in “Maalik Ek”.
