‘Gender equality a must for development’

FAISALABAD – Gender equality is inevitable for a durable socio-economic development in the society, said Gender Reforms Action Plan (GRAP) Deputy Director Muhammad Anees Chaudhry. He said this while addressing a training workshop held at Allama Iqbal Library organised by Gender Support Unit for the capacity building of union council secretaries.
The speakers were Executive District Officer (Literacy) Asif Tarar, Community Organisation District Officer Saeed Anwar, Gender Specialist Muhammad Ihsan and social activists Dr Naveeda Shoib and Dr Jafar Hassan Mubarak who briefed the participants about different aspects of the development process to ensure maximum community participation in the development activities at grassroots level.
The GRAP deputy director said the Punjab government had been following a lot of welfare and development projects for the empowerment of women. He added the dream of the nation’s development could not be materialised without bringing women into the mainstream of the development.
