Evil spirits hung my daughter, father claims

LAHORE – A female FSc student was found hung from a ceiling fan at her house in Qilla Gujjar Singh precincts. The deceased girl was a resident of Chitral and had come to Lahore two days ago to meet her father Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) employee Faiz Gul, a resident of Empress Road.
Police said that the deceased’s father claimed the girl was under the influence of ‘evil spirits’ and had been unable to recover despite health facilities and spiritual healers. Gul claimed ‘evil spirits’ hung his daughter. Police, however, refuted the claim and sent the girl’s body to the morgue for an autopsy. In another suspected suicide, a father of three, Ghulam Abbas, shot himself in the Sandha Police precincts. The deceased was a resident of Sandha.
He was a shop owner and had taken a loan worth a few thousand rupees on interest from a local. Police claimed the deceased was caught in the debt trap and shot himself as a result. Police handed over the deceased’s body to his family after completing legal formalities.
Shot dead: 32-year old, Muhammad Khalil, a resident of Johar Town, was was shot dead by a friend over a minor issue in the Township Police precincts. Khalil ran a tea stall at Township’s Khokhar Chowk. Police claimed the deceased had a scuffle with Pervaiz two days ago but the intervention of locals meant the matter was resolved then.
However, on Wednesday, Pervaiz reached Khalil’s home with accomplices and opened fire on Khalil. Khalil was seriously injured. Locals rushed him to a local hospital where he expired. The accused managed to escape the scene. Police moved the body to the morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the accused.
