LAHORE – Dr Joel Hayward has been appointed as unofficial policy adviser to Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran (MQ) chief Tahir-ul-Qadri on Wednesday after a meeting in London. Dr Hayward discussed various issues of mutual interest including role of Muslims in Britain, human rights, integration in British society and the struggle against extremism during the four-hour long meeting.
Hayward said terrorism could never be supported by the Quran and Sunnah. Hayward is a scholar of war and strategy including Quranic concepts of war. He holds various academic posts such as Royal Air Force College dean, Royal Air Force Centre for Air Power Studies co-director, King’s College London’s air power studies division head and Indonesian Defense University adjunct professor of strategy.
He is also the author and editor of eight books as well as dozens of peer-reviewed book chapters and journal articles, some of which have been translated to German, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish and Serbian languages. MQ Foreign Affairs’ Coordinator Dawood Mash’hadi, MQ UK Spokesman Shahid Mursaleen and Minhaj Peace and Integration Council General Secretary were also present.
