All praise be to Zardari, Altaf

KARACHI – The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution to acknowledge the efforts of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Mutaahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain for politically uniting the people of Sindh.
PPP’s Bachal Shah had moved the resolution after the MQM’s members ended their boycott and were present in the house to participate the proceedings. Earlier, Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah welcomed MQM members upon their arrival in the house after a gap of over a week. Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza – who had become a regular attendee in the MQM’s absence – was not present at the session.
Bachal Shah said that it was because of the unity of PPP and MQM that the Sindh had gotten its right to rule. He said that Sindhis were holding the offices of the Presidency, speaker of the National Assembly, and Senate chairman. PPP’s outspoken leader, Jam Tamachi, though supported the resolution, but also said that there should be a permanent arrangement between the two coalition partners.
“We should get rid of this daily practice now, the love and separation”, he said. He proposed that a committee should be formed to decide each other’s share keeping in view of numerical strength of both the parties. MQM’s parliamentary leader, Syed Sardar Ahmed, said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was following Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of unity, and that Sindh was the home of both the MQM and the PPP.
No legislation could be made despite the fact that MQM members had returned, as Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro was also absent due to President Zardari’s engagements in the city. It is likely that both the parties would sit and finalize items for legislation before attending proceedings on Thursday (today).
