ISLAMABAD – Rejecting the impression that the Pakistan Muslim League-Q was coming forward to become part of the PPP-led coalition government, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed on Tuesday said that there was complete consensus within the party over not joining the government.
“The PML-Q has no intention to join any government…. We will form our own government after winning the next election,” he told reporters at the PML House. He said dialogue did not mean a deal, as “we believe in resolving issues through dialogue”. Claiming that 2011 was the year of political change, Mushahid said the PML-Q would lead the change as its support would help make or break governments.
He said that those who had termed the PML-Q as ‘Qatil League’ were now accepting it. “Those who need us should come to us and hold dialogue,” he said, adding the PML-Q did not believe in politics of shutting-doors. Mushahid said that the PML-Q was fast gaining popularity across the country, therefore, the people were joining it and the party was winning by-polls.
Criticising forward blocs and intra-party splinter groups, he said Manzoor Wattoo model of politics of 1990s had been rooted away. “Now the people in the 21st century would reject turncoats,” he added. He said the entire party was united on not joining the government and the PML-Q would continue playing the role of a robust opposition per the people’s mandate.
Meanwhile, the PML-Q on Tuesday announced sending relief goods for the quake-hit people of Japan. In this regard, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and party’s Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed visited the Japanese Embassy.
