LAHORE – Two unidentified armed motorcyclists gunned down the owner of a local sugar mill on Ghalib Road in Gulberg police precincts on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Shakil Bhatti, the managing director of Chishtian Sugar Mills. Gulberg police Station House Officer Abid Rasheed told Pakistan Today that Bhatti was at a furniture shop on Ghalib Road alone when the two assailants arrived at the site.
He said one of them held up all the people outside the shop at gunpoint, while the other entered the furniture shop, opening indiscriminate fire on Bhatti, injuring him critically. Rasheed said Bhatti was shifted to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
He said a case had been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s son. Model Town Superintendent of Police said Haider Ashrad said initial investigations suggested that the deceased had been killed over old enmity.
