IGP assures Christians of arresting Bhatti’s assassins soon

ISLAMABAD – Inspector General of Police Wajid Ali Khan Durrani assured a delegation of Christians that called on him on Tuesday that the assassins of minorities affairs minister Shehbaz Bhatti would be arrested soon. Durrani said the joint investigation team (JIT) comprising police officials was making every effort to catch the culprits.
“The police will leave no stone unturned in protecting the lives and property of Christians as well as all other minorities enjoying equal rights under the constitution of Pakistan,” Durrani said. He briefed the delegation about the progress made so far in investigations into Bhatti’s case and assured them that they would be regularly informed of future developments in the case.
Members of the JIT were also present on the occasion. The delegation, headed by minorities affairs former minister J Salik, included Pastor Inayat Jalal, Pastor Basharat Shareef, Pastor Imran Saleem, Priest Anwer Shehzad, Christian community leaders Waris Daleep, Chaudhry Siddique, Yusuf Inayat and former Punjab Minorities Advisory Council chairman Raja Nathaniel Gill.
