LAHORE – Diamond Paints thrashed PESSI on the opening day of the Pepsi Challenge Cup Polo 2011 on Tuesday here at the LPC ground. Diamond Paints edged PESSI 7-2 in a convincing win, with Mir Shoaib Ahmad scoring the opening goal.
PESSI’s Sher Alam Mashud got even with a long chase goal but Hamza Mawaz Khan against provided the lead to Diamond. Hassan Ali Farrukh start the second chukker with a goal, but Hamza againt came up with a solo effort to level the score.
From there onwards, Diamond dominated the proceedings and kept scoring at a frequent pace, with Raja Temur Nadeem scoring another three goals and Shah Shamyl Alam hitting in one to get an easy win for Diamond Paints.
Omar Asjad Malhi and Saqib Khan Khakwani were the umpires for the match.
