ISLAMABAD – Gulshan Saeed of PML-Q is the richest female senator who owns gold ornaments that weigh nearly 13 kg and has property worth millions of rupees.
Details of her assets declared to the Election Commission of Pakistan reveal that rest of her female colleagues in the upper house possess less than half of gold ornaments owned by GulshanSaeed. According to ECP documents, Senator Gulshan Saeed also owns two houses valuing Rs 50 million and a piece of agricultural land worth Rs 10 million. She has declared 20 million sterling pounds remitted from abroad while having Rs 8 million deposited in banks and Rs one million cash in hand. ECP documents further reveal that three other female senators have gold ornaments worth Rs 4.6 million without mentioning their weight.
Sabina Rauf of JUI (F), according to documents, is the only female Senator who does not own any jewellery. PML-Q Senator Semeen Yusuf Siddiqui and Almas Perveen of PPP own gold ornaments weighing up to 1200 grams. Semeen Siddiqui has over 200 acres of leased land including a poultry plot and a piece of agricultural land, while Almas Parveen’s only property is a house worth Rs two million in Lyari where she presently lives. Farah Aqil of Awami National Party (ANP) and Shirala Malick of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) possess 720 grams of gold ornaments each. Shirala has two plots, one flat and one apartment in Karachi and one plot in Senate Housing Society, Islamabad.
Najma Hameed of PML-N has 600 grams of gold ornaments, while Nilofar Bakhtiar and Rehana Yahya Baluch of PML-Q have jewellery worth Rs one million each. Najma Hameed also owns a house in Model Town Lahore valuing Rs 15 million and a house in Rawalpindi worth Rs 20 million. She also has a flat worth Rs 3.5 million in sector F-15 of Islamabad. Similarly Nilofar Bakhtiar owns a house worth Rs 26.25 million in F-10/2 Sector of Islamabad. Her inherited property includes a house at College Road, Rawalpindi, in addition to having a 2400 square yards plot in Rawat Industrial Estate and a residential plot in Fateh Jang. She has Rs one million bank account but no car in her name.
Rehana Yahya Baluch owns a house in Quetta valuing Rs 150 million, a flat in DHA Karachi having the same value and a farmhouse in Kalat worth Rs 8 million. Dr Saeeda Iqbal of PPP owns gold ornaments weighing 480 grams and a house in I-8/2 sector worth Rs 20 million. Afia Zia of Jamaat-e-Islami owns gold ornaments weighing 300 grams and a residential plot in Kohat. Farhat Abbas and Sughra Imam of PPP respectively possess 240 and 120 grams jewellery. Sughra Imam has 77488 shares in Packages Limited, 15500 in Ashiana Cotton Mills and 1144 in Engro Chemicals. Total shares held by her are 966690 and the net investment has been shown Rs 9.6 million.
