LAHORE – The Punjab Consumer Protection Council (PCPC) arranged a seminar at the Punjab Cultural Club on the occasion of the World Consumer Day on Tuesday, which was attended by former Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal and Punjab Industries and Commerce Secretary Dr Shujaat Ali.
The seminar aimed to spread awareness about consumer rights. The event discussed the problems faced by consumers and provided solutions in this regard. The seminar encouraged the consumers to fight for their legal rights. Speakers, while highlighting the important aspects and rights of consumers, said that it was up to the consumers to fight for their rights. Speakers presented new ideas and suggestions for consumer protection and said that consumers’ rights could be improved in Pakistan.
PCPC Saeed Akhtar said that consumers were the most important stakeholders in the field of finance and business. Community Solidarity System President Mohsin Bhatti shared his thoughts on consumer rights and protection and said that awareness was the key to the implementation of consumer rights.
Justice Nasira Javed said that consumers should make sure that their rights were being taken care of. The Punjab industries and commerce secretary said that consumer rights should be implemented in a transparent way. Applauding the Consumer Rights Bill 2005, he said that it was a step towards protecting consumer rights. He encouraged the consumers to take traders to court if any injustice was being done against them.
